Book Chat Packs

Our themed Book Chat Packs include questions and activities for reading groups, and also suggestions for further reading or relevant websites. They will be of use to school and public librarians, teachers, youth group leaders and anyone working with children and young people.

There are five Book Chat Packs currently available. They are beautifully produced at the amazingly low price of £10 plus postage and packing.

World War I Reading Pack No. 2
This pack supplements the original pack, published in 2014, to commemorate the start of the first world war. The second pack covers books published since 2014, with recommendation for both primary and secondary ages, including picture books as well as novels.

Building Bridges Conflict Resolution – Primary
Building Bridges Conflict Resolution – Secondary
These packs set out to provide book-based discussion and activities to support conflict resolution and encouraging students to think about how bridges may be built between opponents and enemies of different kinds. There are two packs available, one for primary schools, and one for secondary schools.

Being Me
This pack looks at the positive aspects of being different, covering issues such as identity, disability and neurodiversity. The discussion sheets are designed to help readers understand differences and to empathise with others.

Rainbow Reads: A LGBTQ reading pack
The pack covers fiction ranging from picture books for primary schools up to secondary school reading. All the books have been carefully chosen by our librarians to suit their audience. The pack comprises of book club questions and activities around each of the titles, and would suit book groups in any settings, not just schools.

Girl Power Primary – Pre school to Year 6
The theme for this pack is Girl Power, but the interest is by no means limited to girls. It is just as important for boys to understand the potential of girls as it is for girls themselves, as gender stereotyping has long term effects on self esteem, relationships and career choices.
